Living and loving...

That's what we have been doing on this side of the world... living and loving what we are doing, Christopher is getting older everyday and we are growing with him. He is 19 going on 20 months... he is such a Boy! Climbing, running and getting in as much trouble as possible... I have to say, I love it... but at the same time it drives me crazy when I cant control him, I guess it is a mother thing.
Knitting? Not so much, trying really hard but not working with all the stuff I have going on... I did manage to get all the Christmas dishcloths I planned though... :) didnt get to finish the blanket I wanted though... we were stuck at home because of the snow and as you can imagine, Christopher took ALL my time, entertaining him was hard, but we managed... we survived!
Moving, yes we are moving back to the very first place we lived when I first moved here... I like the idea of being back in the country... looking at trees and just being away from the noise and stuff that happens in town. We will see how little man adjusts...

To keep up with everything that is going on... Christopher getting over a cold, me finishing some knitting projects that I left behind and packing!!
Yes, we have planned a trip... my little guy and me are leaving on a jetplane to see my parents... I couldnt be happier, I know it has been only a few months since we saw them but still, it feels like forever. Can't wait to have them around enjoying their handsome grandboy... my sister is coming too, so it will be a FULL HOUSE for two weeks which is the time we are planning to spend there.
As you can imagine, I am counting the days and hours and maybe seconds to land in my hometown!
In the meantime I better start packing... :)

Over a year...

It's been over a year since I posted something here. Mainly because my life has gotten so busy since our little boy came to this world. We have learned so much!! Not only about taking care of a baby but also about life in general... there is SO much we forget sometimes.
No words can describe what it feels to be a mom, seeing him grow and go from a tiny little baby into a "big" guy has been amazing... now he runs, asks for things and lets everyone know if he is feeling happy, sad or upset. When he is tired he will rub his eyes... if he happens to be hungry he will look for his bottle and try to drink it even if it is empty.
Emotions are a big thing for little guy... he loves to cuddle and just a few days ago I got to teach him how to kiss... so there we are, kissing all the "buddies" one by one... laughing at each other when it is our turn to kiss... this week we will learn how to hug!!
I wish I could say I dont want him to grow up, but it would just not be fair... he can grow up, as long as he doesn't forget that mommy adores him more than her own life!!

Today I started this baby blanket... Im using Caron Simply Soft, Sage color with 6mm size needles.

So far, I have only knitted the border, can't wait to finish it!! There is less than 70 days for my little one to be here... :)

I decided to make this hoodie, but after finishing the body and sleeves and suffering with the seaming, I decided the hoodie would be a little too much for my patience... :(

The pattern is from Lion Brand Website, I used Bernat Satin, needles size 6mm.

I chose the colors so my little one can wear a sweater over the Halloween clothes his/her Grandma got... :) According to my hubby he/she will look like a candy corn :D

There is always more than I need inside my purse... it takes me about 5 minutes to find my sunglasses... so I decided to make this cozy in a very bright color to make it easier... :)

I dont have a pattern since I made it as I knitted it.

It's been a long time since I wrote here... two weeks? two weeks and a half?

I am alive, just many things going on here...

I turned 27, we celebrated it going to a Peruvian Restaurant called Andina, located in the Pearl District in Portland. They had really good food, the place was super and I loved it!!
The baby is 27 weeks old! Only two more months to go... I am really excited and nervous, but I try to focus only on the excitment, sometimes it is hard though.
My husband's Grandfather passed away few days ago, the funeral was today. He was 83, he was a wonderful man... although we knew his time to leave us was coming, it was hard.
I have Bell's Palsy, I cant move one side of my face... I havent been to work in almost a week, and I fight myself every morning and night when it is time to take a shower, brush my teeth... even when I eat. It isnt easy... it hurts, not physically but emotionally. Hopefully it will go away soon, the doctors said it will be a few weeks before I see an improvement.

Knitting? Not really... I started crocheting a blanket for a friend's grandaughter... I want to finish it before I go back to work on Saturday... we will see. :)

I got back home last thursday around noon... I had a wonderful time and couldnt feel better after seeing my parents, sister and family :) We spent everyday from one place to the other visiting family, enjoying the sun and being together!
Between my mom and dad they made me feel like the most spoiled girl in the world! The very first day there, they sent me to get a manicure, pedicure and my hair done... it was awesome!! The rest of the days if we werent shopping for me or my husband it was for the baby... :D
Lots of pictures, swollen feet and a virus that still keeps me in bed sick running to the bathroom every hour... all unforgetable memories from a 5 day trip!!

Plane tickets!

I bought my plane tickets last week, with so many things going on right now I totally forgot to share that... I leave this coming Friday very very early in the morning, I am hoping for an uneventful trip, get in one plane, get off that plane... wait for a few hours and get in the second plane... Can't wait to get some color!! Forsure I am planning to go to the beach!! :)

We had an unexpected snow day yesterday... We made a snowman on the deck, it turned out better than I thought... it was my first snowman!! I was so excited to play on the snow... :)

Today... Chicken Pox

Still working on that One Piece Baby Sweater, this is the first time I make something where I have to CO in between sleeves and body, I remember I tried to do it once and it just didn't work, there was a big hole, I couldn't even seam it!! We will see how it comes out, hopefully good so I can make a couple more of this sweaters, I like the way it is turning out.

Looking in my computer I found this picture of my two little guys... I think Chris took it when he was vacuuming and George decided he was scared because of the noise and went under the blankets... while Jack was upset because of that bright light on his face... ;)

Today at work, I had someone come and say that his daughter might have Chicken Pox... I couldn't remember which one I have had or which one is which... Rubella, Chicken Pox, Varicella... Uhmm... anyway, I looked it up online and found out that Chicken Pox is Varicella and I had it when I was 2, I called my personal doctor(aka: my dad) and he said that I am already immune and not to worry about it.

All this made me think of my little one having Chicken Pox in a few years... oatmeal baths, making him/her wear little gloves to avoid scratching... OMG! I am going to be a MOM!!!

After taking a break from knitting the baby blanket, I found a pattern I like for a sweater... It is this one. I have started it in lapis color from Bernat Satin, I plan on adding a few white stripes on the bottom and the sleeves, just before the rib. We will see how it comes out. :)

Childbirth Classes... To enroll or not to enroll?

I am having a hard time deciding if we should take Childbirth Classes or not, I know it will be helpful, but I think it will also be scary and might put more stress on us, much more than we already have. Dont ask me how I came into this conclussion, but I did.
On the other hand, I know it will clarify many doubts that I have about the delivery and how it is going to be... I dont know... too much rambling... Maybe I have been watching too much ER.
Talking about ER, I just saw Dr. Louis clap to find her keys, it started ringing... that is cool! I want one!!!

I am totally upset right now... I have just admitted to myself that I have caught a cold, my nose is stuffed, I have a light headache and I feel like nothing but having ice cream and being warm in bed...
There is this virus at work, I think I might have got it from one of the girl's son... he came the other day and I couldn't help my "baby addiction"... we were playing for a little while, he wasn't sick at the time, but his grandma was in bed... now, he is at home with 103F fever... :S
This is the second time I have gotten sick during my pregnancy!! I am so upset!! >:I

I finished the baby blanket last night while watching tv... All I need to do now is block it and make sure that it stays in a safe place away from Jack and George(my little cats) until the baby is born.

Day off...

Finally an actual day off... I can cuddle in bed with my huge teddy bear and my laptop, balance my checkbook, shop online and if there is time left... take a nap!!

There is a big chance I will be able to go see my parents, they really want to see the baby growing inside... I have no idea when exactly that would be... the doctor doesnt want me to go before the ultrasound and after that I only have couple of weeks where I can do it without taking any risks...

Does anybody know why American Airlines is having people fly from LA to Miami and then to South America?? I am really upset, the only flights that I have found in that Airline(which is the one I like the most) go from Portland to Los Angeles to Miami to Lima!! It's insane!! 14 hours!!! from coast to coast!!!

Ideas anyone?

Today I realized how much my belly has grown, I mean... I knew it was growing but THIS much?? I have started wearing maternity pants and maternity shirts... exciting and scary I must say!

How is my knitting going? I haven't been able to touch it in a couple of days, yesterday I wasn't feeling good and went to bed right at 8pm!! Woke up at 11pm and couldn't sleep until 1.30am but I was rested when I woke up at 7.30am. Dreams? Lots! And weird ones too!! Hormones!!!

14 weeks and 4 days... few hours maybe?

It's been a while... I still have some morning sickness, in fact... I just decided grape juice wasn't a good choice for breakfast this morning.

Knitting? I started the first blanket for the baby, white, pink, yellow, green and light blue, that way we can't say it is a "gir-ly" or "boy-ly" blanket... I am hoping I can finish it by the end of the year, that way I can start working on other things... sweaters, hats and try again with socks!!

Three months and counting...

Three months, twelve weeks, ninety days... that is how pregnant I am... the worries about a miscarriage are almost gone along with the morning sickness... I still can't believe how bad I felt those days...

My tummy has started growing, my clothes are a getting tight and although I still haven't found the perfect "maternity" size for me I am really excited to start wearing those big shirts!!

So far we have two pictures of our little one, we can see the head, arms and I would say the nose and one eye... my mom and mom-in law keep asking if we are still going to wait for a big surprise... I guess they keep waiting our answer to change... YES! It is still going to be a surprise...

Names? We have them but we are keeping them "secret"... ;)
Knitting? Not really... I started again last night while watching tv but my eyes started rolling in a weird way, I figured I needed some rest...
Cravings? Yes! French fries with mustard, Peruvian tamales(which I haven't had yet!!) and lots of Strawberry Jello...

I haven't posted anything recently since last week I was a mess... still recovering from the sinus infection and just starting to deal with the morning sickness... I got a yarn order from Knitpicks on thursday, I was sleeping and my husband brought it to bed so I could see it hoping it would make me feel better(I had been sick all day)... I don't think I even remember which colors I ordered...

Today is a better day, I feel good and ready to clean our place... maybe late afternoon start that cable baby blanket I planned for a long time...

After spending 10 day in Mexico... I am back home... Being with part of my family again was awesome! Got to see my dad and my youngest sister, my new niece and my brother in law. We had a great time.

My new niece is beautiful and tiny, she is so smart... she might start talking before she turns 1 :o

We stayed in San Jose del Cabo, visited Cabo San Lucas, La Paz and Todos Santos where Hotel California is(see: Eagles).

Can't wait to visit again...

The day is coming soon... I am finally going to see my sister after almost 1.5 years, she has is a mom now! Mikaela Ann was born last Aug 28th, she is adorable!!
Well, my sister lives in Los Cabos, Mexico... beach, sand and sun three things that come to my mind, all of them go together with sunbathing... meaning, I have to lose weight!!
Kellogs diet is coming to my rescue... I only have 24 days to look decent!! Starting tomorrow... I will follow the plan... cereal for breakfast and dinner, and we'll see what happens... losing 10 pounds is my goal! 5 will make me very very happy. ;)

Many things have happened lately... We moved, I have a new niece, we went to San Francisco and we are getting ready to go to Mexico. Because of all of this I had to put my knitting away... Yes, it was painful...
But I am back!

I am working on three projects... A blanket for my best friend(which she might get sometime during next winter), a pair of socks(attempt number 1000), and a KAL dishcloth(trying to figure out how to work with 100% cotton and metal needles).

Hopefully, I will be done with all three by the end of the month...

I am about to leave to work, but before I wanted to update my knitting... ;)

I have been trying to do many things, however it has been impossible to sit and just knit without worries... Yesterday I decided I had enough distractions and got a VogueKnitting Magazine, I really like it, it has many patterns and the price isnt bad at all.

Well, last night I started a handbag for the summer, I am hopping I dont have any problems(it is a pattern I am creating as I knit)... should be done by the end of the weekend...

This pattern is easy, quick and perfect! I just love it... I started it on sunday night and finished last night before going to bed... obviously I went to work and did all my laundry in between knitting sessions... I think it took me about 5 hours to have it done!!

Yes! After almost two months I can say that I am back!!

Work has kept me away from my knitting time, it has been complicated, I think I have just now started to manage everything better... My sweet husband is getting used to the new routine too, we cant spend as much time as we used to... and it IS hard!!

Anyway... back to the knitting progress... I have finished a baby blanket for my sister's baby... since we dont know if it is going to be a boy or a girl yet, I went for the variegated yarn...

I finished it on saturday night, w/d on sunday morning... and now it is already in a dark bag ready to be used when our first baby comes... :)

I am now thinking what I will knit... I need a small project, since I will be taking it to work so I have something to do during breaks... ;)

I have been in bed for the past 2 days! I really dont like it... my knitting is on hold!!! My quick knit baby afghan is not being quick at all!!

I might have to force myself and go out... just to clear whatever is causing this horrible pain!

Meaning... I will have less time to knit, but more money to buy yarn, hehehe... isnt that ironic? I start on the 17th, which means I better hurry and finish my projects!!!

I learnt... I think I did!!! I read a lil about it, I dared myself... went to the store and started knitting my first felted project... I must say it isnt perfect, but forsure it wont be the only one...

Cell phone case:
CO 38 stitches - 10US(6mm) needles. St st.
Before felting 8" x 6"
After felting 7" x 3"
Yarn: Patons 100% Wool
Felt process: Wash hot water with two big towels for 10 minutes. Iron aftwewards with a cotton t-shirt on top.

I love it! Im going to make a bag now... I think I know what every girl in the family is getting for their b-days and Christmas this year! ;)

I just joined KnittingHelp forum and I must say I love everything I am learning from all the great people there. It is just wonderful how many people can share just one interest and all their knowledge about it!!

I have something in mind now... I have seen so many felted finished projects that I HAVE to learn how to do it!!! I have so many questions already and I havent started anything yet... Which yarn to use? Which colors? How much will it shrink? Can I felt something that wasnt made to felt? What if I try with that old sweater I have?

I must find the answers!!! I have to go to the store!! Books!!!!

Baby Afghan... first one!!!

I started my first Baby Afghan!! It is coming out better than I thought... Im so excited! I am learning so much about knitting...

The pattern is from Evelyn A. Clark, the name is Rock-A-Bye...

I am using two strands of Lion Brand - Pound of Love yarn(Super Soft 4ply, Worsted Weight). The day I got the yarn I was so desperate to start that I am using my earrings as markers!! I must say they do work, and perfect. Now I need to change to circular needles.

Cant wait to have it finished!!! Knitting Rocks!!!!

Baby Booties - Pink... finished!!

I finished them!! Last night after couple hours of work I finished the pink baby booties.

I totally love them!!! The pattern is the same one for the blue ones(below), full-term size with 4mm needles.

Im pretty sure Ill keep the pattern and make them in as many colors as possible... white ones?? :)

Scarves for Christmas??

Yes!! I decided to knit scarves for my two sisters in law and my mother in law two days before Christmas! Isnt that crazy??

As you can imagine I didnt sleep at all for a couple of days... but I made it! I finished the third one at 5am on the 25th, I was totally sleepy but knowing that they liked them made me sooo happy!

Here is the pic of one of them... I was so tired that I forgot to take the pics for the others... :S

Sugar Christmas Cookies

Santa Clause is coming to town... With all the free time that I have now, I figured I better make something for Christmas to give to everyone...

Sugar Cookies
Ingredients:
4 cups all purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup unsalted butter
2 cups sugar
2 large egss
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

Sift together flour, salt and baking powder. Set aside.
Cream butter and sugar until fluffy with a mixer, beat in eggs.
Add flour mixture and mix on low speed until it is combined. Stir the vanilla. Warp the dough in plastic and chill for about 30 minutes.
Preheat oven at 375º. Roll dough to 1/8 inch thick, cut into desired shapes. Bake until edges start to brown, 8 minutes. Cool on wire racks.

Well, I finally decided to use my time in something about all the hobbies I have... I decided to blog about them!! Knitting, cross-stitching, baking... everything!!!

I love knitting! I think I learnt how to do it when I was 6 or 7 and my mom made sweaters for my sisters and I in each and every possible color...

Which is the project now? Baby clothes... Im not pregnant yet, but sometime Ill be and instead of having the time pressure of only 9 months to knit for my baby, I have decided to start now...

Socks, booties, sweaters, hats... blankets... everything is allowed as long as it is baby size!!! :)
